- Cell Phone as Backup Modem and Access Hacks - Making a Cell Phone act like an analog modem
- Wiki Server Setup
- How to really tweak your Wiki to act like you want - Questions must
be submitted ahead of time and there will be a group of
producer/presenter assistants researching-testing and reporting on odd
audience questions that don't have
- Battle of the Browsers - try a range of activities with a range of browsers with a panel of presenters - include at least one mobile device
- Battle of the Distros
- have the big dogs (expert users) on the big distros come show how
cool their distros and rigs are - first a Stock Distro Battle (running
from external media or standard vanilla install then a Modded or Hot
Rod Battle (Drag Race! - Transvestism is optional) - where the demo
dudes and dudettes show a tricked out machine that does special
applications and activities.
Distros to consider from
distrowatch.com (http://distrowatch.com/) top 10 -
Ubuntu, Linux Mint, PCLinuxOS are considered
the easiest for new users who want to get productive in Linux as soon
as possible without having to master all its complexities.
Slackware Linux, Gentoo Linux and FreeBSD are more advanced distributions that require plenty of learning before they can be used effectively.
openSUSE, Fedora, Debian GNU/Linux and Mandriva Linux can be classified as good "middle-road" distributions.
CentOS is an enterprise distribution, suitable for those who prefer stability,
reliability and long-term support over cutting-edge features and
software.
Puppy Linux
mostly because it has a cute name and it can run on a USB stick and
therefore is an easy way to share the "gospel" of FLOSS with the
frightened sheep masses
